Kudos from Tracy Aviary for student’s skills

Externships can be a great way for current students to build confidence in the skills they have spent those countless hours in school learning and developing. As a student you are finally able to actually perform what you’ve been learning.

One vet tech student took the opportunity to show her extern site, the Tracy Aviary, that she was both qualified and trustworthy. The following story was shared with vet tech program chair, Jill Bruneau.

“Rebecca came in after her externship to help with a pelican catch up. One of our pelicans flew away and so while half of the staff were out chasing the pelican I was “stuck” with most of the newer staff and interns with the remaining pelicans.  Rebecca REALLY REALLY came in handy and helped me take charge.  I just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciated having someone there that I could 100 percent trust with doing exams, deworming, etc. and thought that she deserved a special shout-out even though her time at BVU is (almost) over, I think it speaks to the quality of the students that you have!!!”

Thank you to the staff at Tracy Aviary for not only allowing our students the opportunity to learn and practice skills, but for sharing such a great story. We’d like to send our “shout out” to this student as well! Thank you for representing yourself and Broadview so well!
