Financial Aid Options for Students

While the benefits of higher education are clear, figuring out how to finance that education can sometimes be intimidating. However, many sources for financing higher education are available to most students.

Consider these options:

State of Utah Department of Workforce Services: Training funds are available to help with tuition. Application can be made online at www.jobs.utah .gov or call 801-342-2600.

Scholarships: Books in the Orem campus library contain extensive lists of potential scholarships. Also, many websites provide free information on scholarships such as www.collegeboard.org and www.scholarships.com. Once one application for a scholarship is completed, with a few modifications, the same information can be used for another scholarship application. Apply early and consistent effort is the key to successfully finding a scholarship.

Broadview University Scholarships: Broadview University offers a variety of academic, military, community service and matching scholarships. See the catalog for details and qualifications or visit with a Financial Aid Representative.

LDS Employment Resource Services: Free workshops are held to assist students in locating scholarships. Go to www.ldsjobs.org and click on “Finding Jobs and Other Opportunities” and then “Financial Aid (Educational)” or call 801-818-6161 for more information. (You don’t need to be LDS to use these resources—there is no obligation.)

Federal Student Aid:  Know the difference between a grant and a federal student loan. A grant is based on income and is not repaid. To find out if you qualify and to make application, go to www.fafsa.gov.  A Federal Student Loan is a low, fixed interest loan and repayment is deferred until after graduation or if you take a break from school. To learn more, go to www.studentaid.ed.gov/aidinfo.

Military: Broadview University is a military friendly school. Several scholarships are offered to military personnel and their families. Also, see www.studentaid.ed.gov/military
to find out more about grants and loan repayment options for military personnel.

Broadview University is committed to student success and helping increase skills and
providing the tools for students to reach their goals.

Monetary aid for unmarried mothers is offered through the majority of the home plans, for the aid of paying the mortgage. As an alternative for this you can also choose the House for Humanity (HFH) program. It’s essentially a non government agency, helping those involved with need of housing and help. This agency requires pay back, however the regular repayment structure is determined by your total income.
