The students of Ethics in the Law Office (LA255) created a blog to promote ethical behavior in the law office. Each student chose a different topic that impacted the practice of law, researched and compiled the results of their research. Each posted an article on the blog discussing one aspect of legal ethics. Each article underwent numerous revisions, working with the instructor. The students each contacted two organizations or law offices and invited them to view and contribute their comments to the blog. The blog is an ongoing concern for the legal community.
Students were able to identify ethical problems, conduct research and find solutions to those concerns. They all engaged in a discussion, presented their topics and shared the results of their research. Topics included how to avoid the Unauthorized Practice of Law, Duties of Competence and Due Diligence, as well as other topics.
After completing this assignment, the students were more aware of the ethical implications of their professional behavior as well as their duty to assist others in ethical behavior. To see their blog, visit: http://legalethicsforall.blogspot.com.
